Question by : A couple questions about writing?
“Are you sure this is a good idea?” I protested. “We could go to jail if were caught.”

“Of course it’s a good idea,” My friend Will reasoned. “The family that lives here left for the weekend. They’re getting back tonight, so we have to do this now. And quick.”

“Whatever. But don’t blame me if something goes wrong.”

“Nothing will go wrong. Stop acting like a baby and come break this window.”

Slowly I crept forward, very aware of the bright, revealing sunlight. I tentatively hold a baseball bat in my right hand, the wooden handle slipping under my sweaty grip.

“It really is bright out here,” I said slowly, each word carefully formed in my mouth.

“Hey,” said Will. “I am not forcing you to do this. If you want out, leave. Just don’t come to me when I’m rich and your broke.”

Question by : What should I do about my father and my (half) brother?!?
First off, my parents are now divorced and my dad has a girlfriend. They’re not married, but she already has a daughter at my age (14) and my half brother who is around six years old now. My mom has custody of both my sister and I, but my mom lost her job, so now we’re kinda of poor and I can’t ask her for anything because I know we’re VERY tight with money, so if I need anything, I usually go to my dad. Ever since we were younger, my sister and I have always been pretty mature about everything, especially the divorce, but when we were younger my dad suddenly told us that we just got a brother (we didn’t even know that his girlfriend was pregnant!) Of course since we were young, we didn’t think much of it and thought nothing was wrong, but now things are different. It’s not that I hate my half brother, but it infuriates me that my father spoils him so much! Since my sister and I understand that little kids need a lot of attention, we don’t really say anything when my father doesn’t pick us up on the weekends like he’s supposed to. Every time we want to spend some time with him, all he thinks about is my half brother. For example: we asked him to take us costume shopping for Halloween and he says no, but then when my brother says he wants a costume he can’t wait to get to the freaking costume shop. We are at ToysRus one day (my seven year old beloved nintendo DS breaks that day) and then my father buys my brother a brand new DS which my brother is probably going to break in 1 month (my stepsister told me he doesn’t even use it), which doesn’t even make sense because he breaks every single game system he ever gets in a short period of time (3 gameboy SP’s and 2 DS’s) and then my father got upset because he didn’t want to buy my sister $ 10 headphones -.- which she only asked for because she didn’t want them to break and to have to ask again. Plus, he bought my sister a $ 100-$ 150 crappy laptop for Christmas(it didn’t even have Microsoft word!), but he decided to get my six year old brother (who can barely even speak properly) a GODDAMN IPAD on a whim(it wasn’t even Christmas or his birthday!). What kind of six year old needs an ipad?! Once, when I asked to go to the library for a book for my project, he said yes but he just HAD to buy a specific toy for my brother or else he would throw a tantrum. My sister and I tell my father that he’s spoiling my brother and is wasting so much money on toys that he’s not going to use or will easily get bored of. I also spent the night at my dad’s house one time and since there is a public pool a block away, I wanted to go swimming. Although, the next morning I got my period but I don’t use tampons (and who wants to go swimming when they have their period anyway) so I told my father, and all he could say was “Oh, Mark’s going to be so disappointed, I’m going to have to take him somewhere else so that he’ll calm down.” It annoys me how he acts like Mark is his only child. I also feel bad for my stepsister because the ground floor one bedroom apartment they live in is so tiny, they barely have any space for her. She’s practically living in a closet and I’m not even exaggerating! He bought so many expensive toys for my brother, that if he didn’t, he most likely would’ve been able to move into a bigger place by now! Also, since my dad is a principal, he always used to encourage us to read (and I really do love reading, video games is just a hobby), but now, he only buys Mark toys. What the hell ever happened to books?! It feels like my sister and I are drifting away from my dad, because before he used to treat us like the son he never had, but now that he has one, it feels like we’re being pushed aside like some kind of insignificant things that never should of been part of his life in the first place! I don’t mean to sound egotistical and spoiled, but if he’s going to spoil his children, he should at least do it equally or he shouldn’t do it AT ALL! I mean, love my dad, but this has gone on long enough! What should I do? What do I say to my dad????

Question by Egypt: What to do about controlling father?
This is really embarrassing and only those very close to me know about it…

here’s the story: I am 21 almost 22 and still live under my parents roof I am going to college and will be done when I am 23 but until then its more particle to stay at home. Which is all fine accept my father is possibly the most controlling person you will even encounter. I do not have normal relationships with people and it has gotten so bad lately I am embarrassed to have friends over and even recently lost a friend because he lectured her about Christianity. Not saying I disagree with Christianity I am a Christian… but I go by what the bible says and what my heart tells me… and my heart tells me that him lecturing and making people feel uncomfortable about talking about it is wrong on every level.

Any person who has half the sense God gave a gently stewed rhubarb can ask a CPA that, if you’re making $ 30k/year or less, you’ve been paying anywhere from 10%-15% since at least 2000, and 10%-18% the previous 20 years. The federal income tax rate for any amount of income has been a *minimum* of 10% or higher since 1932. Lord knows the years I made far less than $ 30K, I was definitely paying 10% of my income to federal income tax.

I am a very poor artist. I am also blessed because while I paint and raise our seven children, my husband provides for our financial needs. But even still, with our “little family” we are quite in the area of “poverty level.” I want to contribute to our financial income by selling my work. I paint and create Christmas ornaments. The problem is, the supplies are quite expensive. Most everything that I can paint on I find around the house, outdoors, or from thrift stores. But finding good quality brushes is another story. I use q-tips, toothpicks, make up brushes and ribbon to paint often, but sometimes, I truly need a good brush. So I thought of my resources and realized I give hair cuts to my kids every month. Do you think its possible to use human hair to create a paint brush? And if have done this before, you could provide instructions or a link? Thank you!

She always brings me down whenever she comes over, it never fails. When I got my first job, I told her and she said “I can’t believe you got a job before me!” I asked her if she thought I was some kind of slacker or something, and she said no. But she does things like this all the time. She always looks at me like im stupid and i dont know what im talking about, and she acts like she is so much better than me.
I have a small house because I live on my own, and she came over yesterday and said “We moved and my bedroom is like, as big as your whole house!” And Im just like “Gee, thanks?” She lives with her parents, her boyfriend buys her everything, and she is spoiled. I love her to death, I’ve known her for 10 years, but she used to not to do this. Im not the type of person to start crap with people, but this shit is pissing me off.
What can I do to tell her to quit bringing me down, and have faith in me? I have to work for the things I get, my parents aren’t here to help me. She doesn’t understand I don’t get everything handed to me on a silver platter like she does.

My dad got laid off over a year ago, (and NOT from Apple, he worked at Apple over 10 years ago) and we are selling our house. Whenever ppl. come to look at the house he tells them all about when he used to work at Apple, and actually says to people “I’m so smart, and persuasive” and talks all about “When I used to work at Apple” and tries to impress them when they don’t care! He talks about the grounds, and what he used to do there and how he told Steve off once and bla bla bla! He did this to the workers we had working on our house and the people who go to my mothers church too. He talks their ears off! It’s so frustrating because he’ll talk about Japan where he did go a few times from his previous job but acts like he’s lived there all his live and is the “go to guy” or something!
It’s really annoying! Why would he do this?
At home he always tries to act like he knows everything about EVERYTHING he was telling our real estate lady about Harley Davidson’s which he has NEVER owned so idk why he thinks he knows everything about them!
My bf (We are all adults and he lives with us) will be trying to help mother with something and then dad comes in and trys to act like he knows what is going on when he doesn’t which is why my bf is helping! He gets really fed up since my dad will scream at him trying to say he’s right, which he isn’t and then the next day will have “figured out” the problem which was really what my bf was trying to tell him the whole time!
Once my dad said “Oh I’m like the ONLY person I know who can really pick things up and learn quickly” and I said “oh yea, My bf’s like that too!” And he got ALL offended and was like “well I’m different, I can REALLY learn quickly, like no one else” and another time he said he didn’t like something, and mother and I said we did, and he got PISSED and said “well everyone has their own tastes, but I know what I’m talking about” and walked away! wtf?
Why does he act like this? It’ really annoying!
not to mention whenever mother is in need of help he says he’s “working” and runs into his office, all he does ALL day is facebook, and no I’m not kidding, every 5 min. he’ll post something new.
